Our Instructors have spent many years devoted to training in the art of Tang Soo Do and other martial arts and are all internationally certified teachers and mentors.
Through extensive testing, certification and re-certification, our staff has attained mastery in their field and enjoy sharing their skill and passing it on to their students. Here are a few of Karate World's instructors and other staff members, starting with
Grandmaster J. John St. James has been training for 34 years. He is a 7th degree Black Belt in Tang Soo Do and serves as the President and Founding Master of the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation headquartered just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. He is also principle owner of Karate World, Inc. located in Suwanee. Grandmaster St. James also serves as Co-Chair of the Asia Atlantic Alliance, an organization of like-minded traditional Tang Soo Do Federations and Associations across the globe.
Grandmaster St. James started his leadership and Black Belt training at the age of 15 and attained his certified instructor’s license at the age of 18 making him one of the youngest individuals to ever earn that distinction. He has won multiple championships and even trained multiple world champions. He is most proud however of the work he does as part of a nationally recognized Leadership Program that builds leaders in and out of the academy.
Master Deborah Jett began her training in the martial arts to spend time with her children and get exercise, but soon discovered that there was much more to the martial arts. Teaching and sharing the benefits of the martial arts became her passion. With the guidance of her instructor, Grandmaster John St. James, she is now a 5th Degree Senior Master Instructor with the Atlantic-Pacific Tang Soo Do Federation.
Master Jett helped open Karate World of Suwanee, Georgia in March of 1996, and soon began a full time martial arts career. She is now a part-owner and Chief Instructor. She specializes in introducing new students to the martial arts, youth development, and starting students on their path to Black Belt leadership.
In addition to her teaching career, Master Jett was an active competitor. Prior to testing for Masters Rank, Master Jett was active in regional, national and international competition. Over 10 years she won numerous first place awards in all categories as well as a Regional Grand Championship. She has also been instrumental in coordinating and choreographing two World Champion competition teams.
Master Michael Jett is a Sah Dan, 4th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do. He has been training with Grandmaster St. James since he was 6 years old. He was also the youngest person ever to be promoted to Master Instructor in the Federation. He currently serves as a Chief Instructor at Federation World Headquarters in Suwanee, GA.
Master Jett has numerous tournament wins under his belt including a Regional Grand Championship. His passion is teaching, practicing traditional forms, and especially working with the staff. He has assisted the Grandmaster on many occasions at regional camps, clinics, and conducts most of the Black Belt Exams for the Southeast region for the Federation. Master Jett also specializes in sparring, self defense, and most importantly teaching children how to become Black Belt Leaders.
